10 Tips to Weightloss
There are so many of us who struggle with our weight, whether we are trying to gain weight or lose weight it is all hard. I specifically have been overweight my whole life, up until the last couple of years where I manage to lose 60 lbs and maintain it for a bit and without paying much attention gained 40lbs. I have now lost 10lbs and on the track to lose more if everything goes right. Here I will be sharing my tips with you on what you can do to weightloss. Make sure to subscribe to receive access to the pdf printable that has the list and some motivational quotes.
1. Drink water
In the end, sodas and juice are nothing but taste. You can change things up and instead of drinking that soda and juice just have a piece of fruit. It’s the same thing and much healthier. All you need is 8 simple 8oz glasses of water a day. You don’t need to carry around a water bottle if you do not. Everytime you sit down on the computer, leave the house, go to the bathroom, etc,. Have a glass of water. Even if it’s just half a glass, just incorporate drinking every time.
2. Drop the carbs
What are carbs? “Carbohydrates are macronutrients, meaning they are one of the three main ways the body obtains energy, or calories,” said Paige Smathers. Long story short, carbs are in E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G we eat. That’s what makes this so hard. Your job is just finding out what is good carb and what is bad carb. For example, Rice, bread, pancakes, cookies etc have both carbs and high calories. Reducing this helps a lot with losing weight. If you feel you can’t cut all of this out right away then start going with wheat instead of white. Then start reducing the amount you take so if you have two big spoons of white rice try going with one spoon of wheat rice.
3. More Vegetables
I hated vegetables for a big portion of my life because I felt they were just so dry but it all depends on how you are cooking them. Just because you’re on a goal to losing weight doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a little flavor on things. I specifically like brócoli and peppers. (And no, peppers aren’t hot 🙂 I assumed they were because of chili peppers but Bell peppers etc are not hot/spicy.) Try having vegetables with every meal and that would cause you to reduce more of the other things on your plate.
4. Walk more
It’s hard to just go outside and walk sometimes but have a goal. If you’re going to the store then instead of taking your car just walk. Take the farthest parking spot and walk. One thing I do at Walmart is I take a reasonable spot that’s far away and when I’m done shopping I leave through the door on the other side. That way I still have to walk quite a distance to get to my car. If you have a dog, they will definitely not oppose to more walks throughout the day.
5. No late night snacks
This is the one I struggle with the most. I don’t go to bed early, probably never before 12am and all of the guides say do not eat past 8 and I can never not eat for that long. So I save the foods that take longer to chew and get my jaw tired for that time. Unsalted almonds and carrots, and just try to take a while on just one piece to take my mind away from wanting sweets. Drinking water here also helps.
6. Eat more protein
Fish, Meat, Eggs, Protein drinks, beans are all high in protein. Try to eat more of this with vegetables and less sweets, carbs, etc.
7. Never skip meals
Your body has a way of storing food when you don’t eat so the next time you do that and still feeds itself. You think you could be doing something good when you don’t eat but it always ends up being worse whether it’s the same day, next week or even in a month. Have you three meals a day with snacks in between.
8. Cheat meal
We aren’t perfect. We can’t just say no to sweets for the rest of our life and be happy about it. It’s okay to have that cupcake, that lollipop, that bread, It’s all about moderation. Yes, have it, but have ONE. Not ten.
You don’t have to start off with running 10miles a-day but you need to move your body. Even if it’s just for 20 minutes a-day. Move. There are many workout videos for beginners you can find on youtube that are just for 20/30 minutes. Find one and do it at least 5 out of 7 days a week.
You won’t lose 2 dress sizes in a day, you won’t lose 20lbs in a week. It’s hard, but you can do it. I have provided a printable of this list with some motivational quotes so you can keep it with you wherever and be able to check it when you lose motivation.
