How to Stay Organized & Motivated!

Ever struggled with how to stay both Organized and Motivated when you're trying to go after a specific goal? Here are some tips on how!

It’s always hard to stay both Organized and Motivated when accomplishing a goal, job, etc. I specifically have struggled a lot with both. It takes so much of me to stay organized than it is to stay motivated. I like to do a little bit of everything which makes it really hard to stay organized while I do it. I have come together with a couple of blogger friends from Boss Girl Bloggers and will share with you all what we do to stay both motivated and organized. I have also included several printables to help! Make sure to check them out!

Make Lists


Lauren at EllDuclos stated, “What helps me to stay organized & motivated is making lists! I love making lists. I have a list specifically for my blog posts so as soon as I have an idea I’ll add it to my notes list. I also will write down everything I have to do for the day and check off as I go! Then I will set up a weekly goals list too and try to accomplish all of my goals that week. Being able to check off all accomplished goals helps motivate me.”

Set a goal


Cassie at Not Your Average said, “How to be more productive – Stop doing anything that doesn’t contribute to the end result. Say you are starting up a business, or have set a goal on how much money you want to make on your blog, or you are a student with exams coming up, or you want to learn something new, or switch to a healthier lifestyle, or earn a side income to boost your finances. Whatever it is that you want to do, focus solely on that!!! Stop wasting your time with TV, only use social media to take ‘breaks’ if it doesn’t relate to what you are trying to achieve. For example you want to learn to live a healthier lifestyle, spend all of your time learning new recipes, researching what changes you need to make, create goals around it, create a strategic plan, start a new type of exercise you enjoy, start a food diary to track your daily meals, read books or articles about the topic. Get fully invested, get off the couch and start taking action. Become obsessed!!!”

Write it down


Donna at Simple in the south stated, “I write everything in a notebook I carry To stay organized and motivated. Being able to check them off as I go keeps me motivated to finish my list each day. I also use apps, such as Google keep to make a list of my blog ideas. When I am ready, I go there and pick a new subject and begin to write. Another thing I do is set up my “behind the scene” post in drafts. I drop everything in and fill out SEO in the Yoast plug-in, tag, and categorize, etc so when I write and edit I am ready to go.”

Write 3 hate, 3 love, 3 hopeful


Claire at The Frugal Family said, “To stay motivated I remember 3 things I hated about where I was – and write down 3 things I love about where I am now and then 3 things I’m hopeful for in the future/ still working on.”

Plan it out


Siyana at Siyana Online stated, “I stay organized by keeping a tiny diary and writing down all my plans for the week – meetings, work shifts, travel plans. I also keep my blog ideas in the ‘drafts’ section, so I can use them when I’m stuck!”

See the progress


Leah at Scenes from Cedar Street said, “I’m not an organized person by nature. Lists stress me out and looking at my planner usually overwhelms me. I’m a dreamer so what keeps me motivated is thinking about all the things I want to create and write. If I get discouraged or I’m in a rut, I look back and see all the progress I’ve made and how far I’ve come. It motivates me to keep going and pushes me to expand my creativeness.”

Vision Boards


My tip that I also shared with the girls was, “What helps me stay motivated is having my goals somewhere visual. Whether it’s using a Pinterest board to pin images regarding my goal, printing images out and pinning them on my vision board in my bedroom, and even just creating a folder with screenshots on my phone that I can check out every day and whenever I lose motivation. As for organized, I’m with Lauren. Writing things down and just keeping them where I can see helps me stay organized and just on track with all that I have to do.”

    This is amazing! I’m so glad you ladies came together for this collab! I am working on organization and motivation and will definitely utilize these tips! I think either everything on my schedule, I could use more organization and definitely need all the motivation to keep my blog going!

    Great advice!! I love the part about 3 hate, 3 love, and 3 hopeful. It’s so important to remember where we began, to stay positive about where we are, and to set goals for where we plan to go. Love this!
